GOHSEP Academy & Emergency Management Training at UL Lafayette

The Governor’s Office of Homeland and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) offers this course at no cost to the public. The GOHSEP Academy partners with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and the Louisiana Emergency Preparedness Association to provide classes in Abdalla Hall through the NIMSAT Institute, an emergency preparedness research center on campus.

The courses consist of varying topics, facilitating refinement in processes critical for community efficiency and resiliency. We encourage you to share these upcoming opportunities with the appropriate partners and stakeholders to maintain and build capabilities within your communities. Make your reservations as soon as possible. All courses will be available in the STEMS portal and are being added monthly.

Leveraging AI for Emergency Management

August 19: 12 PM - 4 PM

August 20:  8 AM - 12 PM

This course provides participants with a foundational yet practical understanding of artificial intelligence, equipping them to explore its capabilities and applications within modern systems.

 


ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

Aug 13 - 14, 2025 from 8 AM - 4 PM

This course describes how the NIMS Command and Management component supports the management of expanding incidents and the incident/event management process for expanding incidents and supervisors as prescribed by ICS. It also implements the incident management process on a simulated Type 3 incident, allowing students to learn how to develop an Incident Action Plan for a simulated incident.


ICS-400: Advanced Incident Command System

Sep 15 - 16, 2025 from 8 AM - 4 PM

The target audience for this course is senior personnel who are expected to perform in a management capacity in an Area Command or Multi-agency Coordination Entity. This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System (ICS). This course expands upon information covered in ICS-100 through ICS-300 courses. This course will include but not be limited to: major and/or complex incident/event management, area command, and multi-agency coordination. This course is designed to provide overall management skills rather than tactical expertise.
