Clay Rives Recognized by State of Louisiana

Clay S. Rives was recognized by the NIMSAT Institute and the Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for his outstanding service to the NIMSAT Institute and the state of Louisiana with a Letter of Commendation from GOHSEP Director James B. Waskom. 

During the period from November 2012 to August 2017, Clay Rives was instrumental in guiding the NIMSAT Institute and LABEOC in coordinating the mobilization and delivery of private sector equipment, facilities, and services in response to every state and presidentially declared disaster. In addition, he developed and delivered numerous training and outreach programs to local communities, parishes, and private sector organizations, thereby greatly enhancing disaster resilience and preparedness across the state. In particular, Clay’s service at the State Emergency Operations Center during the historic state-wide floods of March and August 2016, was instrumental in minimizing flood-related damage to state assets, and enabled the rapid and efficient mobilization of state resources in support of the disaster recovery during the nation’s first state-wide implementation of the National Disaster Recovery Framework.

Rives is now the Director of East Baton Rouge Mayor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. He will continue his career of service to the state’s emergency management profession, and to ensuring the security and safety of the State of Louisiana and its communities.
