The Louisiana Business Emergency Operations Center (LA BEOC) participated in the 2016 Vigilant Guard Exercise, sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP) and the Louisiana Army National Guard. The week long exercise is federally funded by the Department of Defense’s United States Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) and included four states. The NIMSAT Institute at the University of Louisiana operates the LA BEOC on the campus, located in Abdalla Hall. The scenario for Louisiana focused on testing many of the state’s response plans with a Category 3 or 4 hurricane making landfall somewhere along the coast of Louisiana.

The LA BEOC serves as an annex to the state emergency operations center to serve the businesses of Louisiana before, during and after a disaster.
